A month before Ontario's MPPs return to Queen's Park for the fall session, the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association (CGPA) is lobbying the provincial government on drug regulations.

The CGPA was registered by Zane Colt and Dan Mader, both of whom are consultants with Loyalist Public Affairs. The registration is focused on the Ontario Drug Benefit Act and Drug Interchangeability and Dispensing Fee Act, in addition to ensuring that provincial regulations allow for a healthy and affordable generic pharmaceutical industry.

The organization is also advocating for a more stable, predictable business environment for research and development, as well as manufacturing of generic pharmaceutical products.

The CGPA's registration contributed to an uptick in health-related lobbying, which comprised 11 per cent of total registrations this past week.

was registered in-house by Marc Poirier, their president, as their industry is impacted by artificial intelligence (AI). One of their lobbying goals was to discuss the current state of AI in the media sector and see if there is some legislation that can be amended to prevent job losses. The client also sought to discuss access to funds and grants available to develop new products and services related to the business, mainly in virtual reality, augmented reality, AI development and digital twinning.
