Who's Lobbying for Whom: Music Canada wants to talk to Queen's Park decision-makers

Chad Rogers of Crestview Strategy registered to lobby this past week on behalf of Music Canada.

The goal of the lobbying effort, according to Roger's registration with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner, was to advocate for the music industry as a whole, including strategies that will promote the music recording industry and live music, including curtailing piracy and counterfeiting, building a legitimate music market in Canada, promoting high ethical standards in the creation and marketing of music, and more.

Music Canada is aiming to accurately represent Canada’s recording industry to government and public agencies on legislative and regulatory matters. It wants to have discussions with the government with hopes to modernize the Ontario Music Investment Fund to focus on activities that bring the biggest return to the province, and refocus its investments to create opportunities to achieve success for Ontario's artists and the industry. It hopes to create tax based incentives that promote the use of Ontario made recorded music in film and television.
