Ontario's dairy processors are lobbying the province to discuss supply management, among other issues.
The Ontario Dairy Council was registered this past week by Noah Mondrow, a consultant with Impact Public Affairs. According to the filing with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario, the focus of their lobbying effort was centred around discussions for a national milk pool and modernizing the dairy supply management system, including pricing. The council also wanted to discuss the appropriate cheesemaker training model for Ontario, how to help Ontario dairy product manufacturers to mitigate potential impacts of trade agreements, ensuring there's sufficient milk supplies for growing markets, milk allocation at pool and national levels and making Ontario inhibitor screening protocols as effective as possible.
