Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he’s proud to lead the Progressive Conservatives but insists he’s uninterested in taking over as the next federal Conservative leader.
Ford was asked again about this possibility following a dramatic federal election that saw the Liberals make gains but fall short of a majority, while the Conservatives were unable to translate strong early polling into a victory.
“I love my job. I have the best job in the entire world,” Ford told reporters Tuesday when asked if he’d consider running federally if Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre — who lost his Ottawa-area seat — stepped down. “I'm grateful to the people of Ontario to move forward and continue to create economic opportunities right here.”
