Trudeau said in a post on X the tariffs wouldn’t go into effect on Tuesday and would be paused for at least 30 days.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada has won a temporary reprieve from U.S. tariffs.

Trudeau said in a post on X the tariffs wouldn’t go into effect on Tuesday and would be paused for at least 30 days.

He made the comments after his second phone call of the day with U.S. President Donald Trump, who had justified his decision to threaten tariffs on his North American neighbours on a push to stem the flow of migrants and drugs across their shared borders.
