Councillors who harass staff could soon be forced out of office, following persistent lobbying from municipalities calling for stronger accountability measures. Minister Rob Flack reintroduced legislation that would standardize codes of conduct, mandatory training, and local integrity commissioner investigations. The Star reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump is once again floating the idea of Canada becoming the 51st state, telling NBC’s Meet the Press that “it would be great” and that he’ll “always talk about that.” The comments come just days before Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to visit the White House, where he’s expected to firmly assert Canada’s sovereignty. CBC reports.
