Another week, another tariff threat from the U.S. president.

Donald Trump sent a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney last week warning that Canada would be hit with 35 per cent tariffs starting Aug. 1. This latest broadside has created a new deadline for trade talks between the two countries, and ratcheted up anxiety and stress for businesses across the country.

Tabatha Bull is the president and CEO of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business. She said Indigenous businesses are facing the same level of uncertainty about the U.S. tariffs all while facing their own unique barriers, including challenges accessing capital.
