'Stay tuned' - Province to ‘extend and improve’ housing fund tied to municipal targets

Ontario’s housing minister hints that the government will make changes to a major municipal housing fund that some local leaders say unfairly penalizes cities for delays outside their control.

Speaking this Tuesday at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa, Housing Minister Rob Flack said the $1.2 billion Building Faster Fund, which rewards municipalities that meet at least 80 per cent of their provincially assigned housing targets, will be “extended and improved.”

But Flack offered few specifics, promising more details would follow consultations with municipal leaders.
