Ontario’s legislature has adjourned for the summer after one of the most consequential spring sittings of Premier Doug Ford’s third majority government.
The Progressive Conservatives used the eight-week session to push through a package of legislation touching everything from school boards and municipal governance to freedom of information rules and the future of Toronto’s waterfront.
PC MPPs voted Tuesday to rise until Oct. 27, extending the summer recess until after municipal elections and prompting criticism from opposition parties, which argued the government is avoiding scrutiny at Queen’s Park.
