Crombie's supporters aren't shying away from the fact that there were serious missteps during the campaign but argue that she outperformed her team, which they accused of being inexperienced and ill-prepared.

With some internal criticism mounting ahead of the Ontario Liberal Party leadership review, Bonnie Crombie is facing her first major test as leader of the Ontario Liberal Party since taking the reins late last year.

But some prominent Liberals are urging the party to step back and take stock, not just of the election results, but of the bigger picture.

“We’ve seen this movie before,” said one senior Liberal source, who said the Liberals already had a “Red Rum” movement that tried (and failed) to oust Dalton McGuinty after his first campaign loss. “It’s cyclical. If the Liberals don’t win, then people are quick to point fingers… it’s always easiest to blame the leader.”
