The Ontario government's decision to close 11 ServiceOntario locations and to partner with Staples without an open bidding process has sparked controversy over transparency and privatization.

Opposition parties are slamming the Ford government's move to close some ServiceOntario locations and open new centres in Staples stores, saying it raises questions around the PCs' lack of transparency and privatization agenda.

But PC supporters say the move will ensure Ontarians have better access to ServiceOntario kiosks.

The Ford government announced it December that it would open new ServiceOntario centres in select Staples stores, in a move it said would streamline services and reduce overall costs. But it failed to mention any closures of existing outlets.
