Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he is open to scrapping the provincial portion of the HST on new home sales, if the federal government takes similar action with its share of the tax.

"If the federal government came and waived the [HST], the federal side, then we'd look at the provincial side as well," Ford said, answering a question by QP Briefing.

“ But I'll tell you one thing, I don't want to go in the pockets of builders or developers,” he said.
