Premier Ford calls U.S. trade talks “extremely positive," but fate of tariffs still unclear

Ahead of the talks, both leaders signaled they wouldn’t back down: Ford insisted he wouldn’t "roll over" in negotiations, while Trump said he wasn’t going to "bend."

Premier Doug Ford had his long-awaited meeting with the U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Thursday but didn’t disclose much about what it accomplished.

Exiting the meeting, Ford called the discussion "extremely productive" and "very civil."

It is still unknown whether tariffs on goods from both sides remain in place. The premier didn't directly answered questions about the topic, and his office didn't clarify that so far.
