In the face of ongoing criticism regarding his handling of the Greenbelt, Ontario Housing Minister Steve Clark resigned over the long weekend, acceding to the demands of opposition parties and leaving Premier Doug Ford with a vacant seat at the cabinet table.

The seat was not empty for long.

Mere hours after Clark’s resignation was official, Ford unveiled a cabinet shuffle that moved Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra over to the housing file, which has become an increasingly critical portfolio amid Ontario’s ongoing housing crisis.
