The Ontario NDP says the Ford government acted “blatantly undemocratic” by pushing for a third reading of bills having to do with Ontario’s building rules and government authority over school boards in the legislature on Wednesday.
Government House Leader Steve Clark introduced a motion Wednesday morning that would speed up the process for three pieces of legislation, including Bill 33 and Bill 60, by decreasing the amount of time for debate and public hearings required for each.
Bill 33 and Bill 60 were last debated in the legislature the previous week. By moving into a third reading and debate on Wednesday, the NDP accused the Ford government of “shutting down debate, cutting our community voices and ramming through bill.”
