Ontario to take control of Toronto's stake in city airport lands: Ford

TORONTO — The province will take control of Toronto's stake in the island airport, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Tuesday.

He said he also wants to expand the runways to allow some types of jets to take off and land at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Currently, only turboprop planes can use the downtown airport.

Ford said he had Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow over to his house to tell her about his decision.
