Ontario’s provincial government is exploring building a tunnel under Highway 401, in an effort to reduce commute times and cut back on gridlock.
Speaking to reporters in Etobicoke, Ont., Premier Doug Ford said the province would launch a feasibility study on how best to increase the capacity of a highway often considered to be one of the busiest in North America.
While the premier was short on specifics, he said the tunnel would run “from Brampton and Mississauga in the west to Markham and Scarborough in the east.”
