Premier Doug Ford has announced that he will temporarily suspend his 25 per cent surcharge on electricity exports to the United States, following a call with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Ford told reporters at Queen's Park that he and federal Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc are set to travel to Washington, D.C., in the coming days for discussions with Lutnick and his officials.
While the premier has agreed to halt the surcharge, he said that it remains an option should trade negotiations break down.
