Premier Doug Ford was in the nation's capital on Monday to announce the opening of the new office, which will be headed by Sean Webster, a former executive at the cannabis company Canopy Growth, who lost last summer's byelection to Liberal MPP Karen McCrimmon.

The byelection, held to replace former PC cabinet minister Merrilee Fullerton, was the first time in riding history that the PCs failed to carry Kanata-Carleton.

Webster has also worked in government affairs for the gas giant Enbridge, served on the board of directors for the Ottawa Convention Centre, and spent a two-year stint as a staffer in Brian Mulroney's government.
