Ontario's government unveils $2 billion refurbishment plan for Pickering nuclear plant

The project aims to extend the plant's life by 30 years, providing 2,000 megawatts of clean electricity. It's set to be completed in the mid-2030.

Energy Minister Todd Smith announced today the refurbishment of Pickering nuclear generating station.

The project, initially estimated in $2 billion, will keep the plant operating for at least another 30 years.

Pickering alone generates around 14 per cent of Ontario’s electricity.
