Ontario is introducing new measures for international students to protect the “integrity” of the province’s postsecondary education, Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop said Friday.
Among the new measures is a complete review of programs offered by postsecondary institutions that have a significant amount of international students to ensure that program quality is guaranteed and that it meets the province’s labour market demands. The province is also introducing a moratorium on new public college-private partnerships and a mandatory requirement for all colleges and universities to have a guarantee that housing options are available for incoming international students.
These provincial changes are expected to take place in February.
