Ontario Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney is defending delays in opening a midtown Toronto light rail transit line, saying Ottawa’s LRT is an example of what happens when a transit system starts operating before it is ready.
The Eglinton Crosstown LRT is behind schedule with no projected opening date, despite having been under construction for a decade.
Mulroney says the government is working closely with Metrolinx, the province’s transit agency, to get the private contractor to give them a “credible schedule.”
