The Near North District School Board might be next to be taken over by the Ontario government after a report found out that it failed to deliver the promise of a new $58-million JK-12 school in Parry Sound.
Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra is demanding immediate reforms at the NNDSB after a report revealed “deep-rooted dysfunction and mismanagement” and “governance problems” in the board. Calandra said he will “not hesitate to take further action,” including potential appointment of a provincial supervisor.
A review has concluded that years of governance dysfunction, more than construction or supply chain problems, are to blame for the delayed opening of the new school.
