Ontario Liberals will spend the weekend locked in marathon executive council meetings as they finalize the rules for the party’s next leadership race.

The executive council is set to meet both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the leadership rules expected to be released publicly on Monday. Party officials say the agenda for the weekend is to set timelines, costs and voting procedures for the race.

“This weekend is all about the rules,” said one senior Liberal official, speaking on background. “We are leaving this meeting with decisions made. The rules are coming out on Monday, whether people like them or not.”
