With Toronto’s 2026 mayoral election still more than a year away, Olivia Chow remains the frontrunner, despite scoring poorly on the very issues voters say matter most.

Public safety, housing affordability, and homelessness have emerged as top ballot box issues, according to polling by both Pallas Data and Liaison Strategies.

But while Chow maintains a lead in name recognition and overall approval, she continues to underperform on those specific files. So how is she still positioned to win?
