No progress on health transfers at finance ministers meeting

Freeland said she's leaving the health transfer talk for the Prime Minister's meeting with his provincial counterparts.

Canada's finance ministers didn't make any progress on health transfers ahead of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's meeting with provincial premiers next week, federal Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Friday.

Freeland said it wasn't her intention to provide any specifics during her talks with her counterparts, despite reporting in recent weeks that suggested otherwise.

Several stories by La Presse and other outlets suggested the provincial finance ministers wanted to have an idea of how much money the federal government was willing to put on the table, after the premiers' years-long effort to have Ottawa contribute more to health care costs.
