New poll says Liberals and PCs in dead heat as Bay of Quinte byelection nears

“The Ontario Liberal vote is up from 18 per cent to 36 per cent since the 2022 election. Meanwhile, the PCs have dropped from 49 per cent to 35 per cent. This is now anyone’s game," said pollster David Valentin.

A new poll shows the Liberals and governing Progressive Conservatives running neck-and-neck in a hotly contested byelection in Central Ontario.

The survey from Liaison Strategies has the two parties in a statistical tie in Bay of Quinte, which was last represented by long-serving PC MPP and former cabinet minister Todd Smith until his resignation earlier this year.

The byelection to replace him is set for Sept. 19 and wasn't expected to be a close fight, with the PCs winning the riding by over 28 points in 2022.
