All of Ontario’s major parties were expected to have a full slate of candidates, but both the NDP and the Liberals lost a candidate each ahead of the registration deadline.
According to Elections Ontario, the Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats had a complete list of candidates posted earlier this week. The Liberals had a few missing names, but those were added by late Thursday morning, just before the registration deadline.
All three major parties had initially announced they would be fielding candidates in all 124 ridings. However, the Ontario NDP will not have a candidate in Eglinton—Lawrence after Natasha Doyle-Merrick withdrew at the last minute. The NDP is now one candidate short in the upcoming Feb. 27 vote.
