Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski has announced he will not seek re-election, marking the end of a political career that has spanned over two decades.

While no date has been set for the next election, Yakabuski’s announcement sets the stage for new political contenders to step forward in a riding that has been a stronghold for the Ontario PC Party for over two decades.

Yakabuski was one of Ontario’s longest-serving MPPs.
