Zee Hamid never planned on entering politics. The MPP from Milton is now a member of the Ford government’s cabinet, but he first ran for office as a town councillor in 2010. He served two terms there and one in regional council before joining provincial politics.
“It sounds like a made-up story, but it’s not,” he says, preparing you to hear the genesis of his political career. “Derry Road in Milton has a CN track that crosses it. I remember one day I was stuck there for almost 10 minutes. I got really upset and I went and tried to find out who was responsible for it.”
After receiving an allegedly “sarcastic” email from regional council, Hamid decided he needed to have a voice at the table. And the rest is history.
