Four job training programs for newcomers to Canada across the province are receiving a shared $2.6 million to support immigrants and refugees looking for work in Ontario, following an announcement in Ottawa by provincial Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton.

Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto, Toronto Artscape, UTIMUS and Matthew House Ottawa — where McNaughton made the announcement today — will administer the free programs to more than 300 people, including Afghan and Ukrainian refugees.

“We are opening doors for these new Canadians to find careers in finance, manufacturing, health and information technology where there is a huge labour shortage,” said Minister McNaughton during his remarks. “The Canadian dream is alive and well in Ontario, and we need all hands on deck to build it.”
