After over a century of building cars for foreign companies, Canada may finally be ready to build one for itself.
That’s the case being made by Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA), who says Canada has all the ingredients to launch its own, truly Canadian automaker, and now, also the motivation to do it.
“As complicated as it is to execute, it’s a really simple idea,” Volpe told QP Briefing in a recent interview. “We’ve proven we’re the best place in the world to build electrified vehicles. So why not build our own?”
