Ontario Liberal MPP Lee Fairclough is entering the party’s leadership race, pitching herself as a candidate who can bring the Liberals back into relevance at Queen’s Park after nearly a decade without a sitting leader in the legislature.
Fairclough is expected to officially register this Friday in the race to replace former leader Bonnie Crombie, becoming the first current MPP to enter the contest since Crombie stepped down in January following the party’s disappointing election performance.
In an interview with QP Briefing this Friday, Fairclough said Ontario Liberals need to reconnect with voters on the ground after years in the political wilderness, arguing the next leader must focus as much on organizing and unity as policy.
