John Tory says he won't run for Toronto mayor this fall

TORONTO -- Former Toronto mayor John Tory has announced he won't be running in this year's municipal election.

Tory says he has chosen not to run out of consideration for his family, as he does not want to put them through the "inevitable attacks" on him and his personal life.

Tory served as Toronto's mayor from 2014 to 2023, when he resigned after admitting to an inappropriate relationship with a staffer.
