Only hours after its announcement, the first project designated under Ontario’s new ‘one project, one process’ has encountered its first roadblock.

Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park on Wednesday, Indigenous leaders from northern Ontario called on Premier Doug Ford to pause Frontier Lithium’s PAK mining project, citing a lack of consultation with local First Nations.

“We need to be clear that this government and its partner are not engaged with us,” said Chief Brandon Rae from North Spirit Lake First Nation. “They push us, overload us with information we can’t process, and drag us through their process.”
