Daisy Wai never meant to become a politician.

The three-term Progressive Conservative MPP for Richmond Hill describes her entry into politics not as ambition, but as a sense of duty, one that took hold when she realized no one else was going to speak up.

“I didn’t plan to run,” Wai said. “I just kept encouraging others to raise their voice, to speak up for what they believe. But they were too busy. And I thought, talking is cheap, why don’t I go forward?”
