Four First Nations in northern Ontario have a reached a deal with the province for new roads, other infrastructure and skills training as part of plans to develop the mineral-rich Ring of Fire.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement in Greenstone, Ont., on Tuesday, saying the deals with the Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek, Aroland First Nation, Ginoogaming First Nation and Long Lake #58 First Nation will lead to the construction of new roads that will connect to the provincial highway network.
"We've blazed a new trail, we've created the opportunities [and] created the conditions in the environment for First Nations communities to thrive, and prosper and grow," he said as we joined by local First Nations leaders.
