Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he expects Mark Carney to have a better relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump than outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did.

Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park Wednesday, Ford praised Carney’s financial background and said it could help improve Canada-U.S. ties.

“It’s going to be a better relationship [with Trump] than with Prime Minister Trudeau,” Ford said. “Mark Carney is an extremely astute business mind. He understands numbers. And so does President Trump.”
