Ford, Lecce tout new battery storage project in Eastern Ontario

Premier Doug Ford headed to Eastern Ontario on Wednesday to celebrate the start of construction on a battery energy storage project that's expected to provide enough power for nearly half a million homes.

Ford and Energy Minister Stephen Lecce stopped in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal for the groundbreaking of the Skyview 2 project, a lithium-ion battery energy storage facility designed to hold 411 megawatts of electricity for up to four hours.

Edwardsburgh/Cardinal is located some 80 kilometres south of Ottawa. Its biggest communities are Cardinal, Johnstown and Spencerville.
