The Ford government is moving to fast-track changes to Ontario’s access-to-information laws, tabling a motion that could sidestep public hearings on the legislation.
Government House Leader Steve Clark filed the motion to skip public hearings on Bill 97 late Thursday, setting the stage for a potential debate within days on whether it should bypass committee review altogether.
If adopted, the move would allow the Progressive Conservatives to push the omnibus bill through the legislature on an accelerated timeline, possibly before the end of next week.
