After iPolitics reported on concerns that an electric vehicle battery factory in Windsor — which is receiving $15 billion in tax breaks from the provincial and federal governments — will potentially employ foreign temporary workers, the federal industry committee will study the deal with NextStar Energy.

During an emergency meeting of the committee on Tuesday, requested by Conservative and NDP MPs and taking place right before and after Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland delivered the government’s fall economic update, members adopted a motion to initiate a six-hour study of the contract that will reportedly bring 2,500 jobs to the Windsor area.
