Google's autonomous vehicle arm wants to talk to the Ontario government about a future regulatory framework, raising the possibility that driverless vehicles could soon land on the province's roads.
Aidan Grove-White, Alex Bernst and Kailey Vokes, consultants with StrategyCorp Inc., registered last week with Ontario's integrity commissioner to lobby on behalf of Waymo, a subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet that has launched self-driving vehicles in several U.S. cities.
According to the registrations, mandatory for those seeking to communicate with public office holders, Waymo is looking to discuss the "development of regulations for the commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles."
