A high-profile exit is set to reshape Premier Doug Ford’s inner circle: veteran cabinet minister and former Progressive Conservative leadership contender Caroline Mulroney preparing to leave provincial politics after eight years at Queen’s Park.
First reported by The Globe and Mail, Mulroney plans to resign from cabinet and step down as MPP for York–Simcoe, according to a letter obtained by the newspaper.
Her departure, effective June 5 after the legislature rises for the summer, will trigger a byelection north of Toronto and likely force a cabinet shuffle for Ford.
