The Ontario Liberals says Premier Doug Ford's planned trips to Washington next moth could be running afoul of rules limiting the use of government resources for partisan purposes during an election period.
Ford said he would call a snap election this week, likely sending voters to the polls on Feb. 27. But he's still planning on visiting the U.S. capital as part of his push to discourage tariffs on Canadian products.
Liberal MPP John Fraser on Monday flagged these visits as a potential breach of the longstanding caretaker convention in a letter to the Secretary of Cabinet, Chief Electoral Officer, and Integrity Commissioner.
