Inflation drops to 1.7% after carbon tax repeal, but core prices are still rising. Canada’s inflation rate eased significantly in April, mainly due to Ottawa’s removal of the consumer carbon tax and lower crude oil prices, Statistics Canada reported Tuesday. CBC reports.

Ontario’s homebuilding regulator has laid charges against seven companies under the StateView Homes umbrella, and three senior executives, for selling hundreds of pre-construction homes without proper registration. The Star has the details .
