Ontario Municipal Affairs minister, Paul Calandra, is pressing forward with a new legislative effort aimed at holding city councillors accountable for misconduct—a move that municipalities are eagerly waiting for.
With guidance now in hand from Integrity Commissioner J. David Wake, that QP Briefing got access to, the Ford government is preparing a bill that Calandra says could reshape how local governments handle harassment complaints.
“There was a lot to unpack in the recommendations,” Calandra said on Monday. “I think it will mean a massive change to how our municipal partners handle these types of complaints.”
