Brampton is getting $25.5 million from the province for hitting 85 per cent of its provincially-mandated housing target.

Ford announced the extra boost at a press conference on Friday. The money comes from the Building Faster Fund, the three-year, $1.2 billion program that the province announced last August.

The funding rewards municipalities that make significant progress on their housing targets, which were determined by the province to achieve the government’s goal of building 1.5 million houses in Ontario by 2031. Funding goes to municipalities that have reached at least 80 per cent of their targets for the year, and there's an extra bonus for municipalities that exceed their target.
