According to several media reports, Premier Doug Ford is reconsidering the dissolution of Peel Region, marking yet another major policy decision reversal for the embattled provincial government.

Just six months after appointing a transition board to oversee and advise on the dissolution of Peel Region, the Ford government is reportedly reconsidering the decision to break-up Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon into independent municipalities by 2025.

Initially devised to ensure efficiencies, reduce taxes and speed up housing developments, according to reporting from The Star, the Ontario government is now concerned the dissolution could cause massive tax increases across all three municipalities and a reduction in critical services like paramedics and public transport.
