Alvin Tedjo ends an era in Mississauga, defeating Parrish and Crombie

His victory comes after a particularly contentious mayoral campaign.

Parrish and Crombie's rivalry dates back to 2011, when Crombie narrowly defeated Parrish in a council byelection. Their relationship deteriorated after Crombie returned to municipal politics, leading to confrontations over spending, development and leadership. Tedjo benefited from presenting himself as an alternative to that longstanding and increasingly-intense political conflict.
