Ajax MPP Rob Cerjanec is pitching himself as the Ontario Liberals’ best chance to reconnect with younger voters and rebuild the party from inside the legislature, formally entering the race to replace Bonnie Crombie as leader ahead of the November vote.

Cerjanec, 37, becomes the fourth candidate to officially launch a bid for the party leadership and the second sitting Liberal MPP in the race, joining Etobicoke—Lakeshore MPP Lee Fairclough. Former federal industry minister Navdeep Bains and former Liberal policy adviser Dylan Marando are also seeking the job.

His entry comes as the Ontario Liberals continue to grapple with a problem that has dogged the party for years: the lack of a leader with a seat at Queen’s Park.
